US military is a bigger polluter than as many as 140 countries
Beginning with the Kyoto climate agreement, military action was excluded from greenhouse gas reporting in its entirety under pressure from the United States. However, military activities generate more emissions relative to spending than peaceful economic activities.
The U.S. military is the single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions.
Most of the emissions come from fighter flights. These emissions and their inevitable increase should not be underestimated.
